Shutting myself away from the world can sometimes be a recipe for disaster. An act that tends to lead to the mind’s eye roving round and round and round endlessly and painfully. But I found a cure, an answer that requires a little self-indulgence, actually scrap that, a LOT of indulgence, a little bit of selfishness, and a willingness to just let go of life’s internal pressures. Yes, that means switching off the phone. Bye bye iPhone. You modern piece of vulture.
The answer lies inside Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa in Surrey in room Rhododendron where the real feast for all my senses started.
From the wallpaper prints telling the story of Ancient Asia to its beautiful colour clashes with the green lampshades and dark wooden tables and chairs lit by the afternoon sun, the whole room was like a beautiful cocoon. Warm and safe, breathing and living inside my body, nourishing the soul, was made easy and effortless. Who needs distraction or the drive to survive when you can just…be?
You can see some photos I took below including some of the hotel outside Rhododendron.
