Nothing that you see on our site (other than portraits) is directed by us. Our approach is based in documentary photography, which means we do not stage or direct anything. We find reality much more interesting than anything we can make up. Plus, when you look at your wedding gallery, 10 years from now, we want you to remember what you were feeling at that moment, not that the photographer asked you to do something.
To make pictures that really show what it felt like to be there, we need to be photographing “in” the action, as opposed to photographing “at” the action. Being ‘part’ of the wedding, and not ‘the hired help’ is an essential element to this approach.
As a documentary wedding photographer, we dive right into the heart of your wedding day. Our documentary style photography approach means we’re everywhere, up close, capturing the belly laughs, happy tears, and everything in between. From stolen glances to dance floor chaos, we freeze the real, raw, and unscripted emotions that make your day uniquely yours. Having 2 documentary wedding photographers at your wedding means your wedding story will be enhanced the right way. 2 perspectives, 2 angles, 2 stories merging into 1. We can be in different locations for the getting ready shots, photographing a variety of interactions and moments simultaneously with our time-synced cameras.
If there’s one lesson we’ve learned through our wedding photography over the years, it’s that no wedding is ever “bad” when it reflects who you are as a couple. As creative storytellers,
our goal is to get to know you, and document your wedding day as it unfolds. For us, the aim is to tell your complete wedding story through authentic documentary style wedding photos.
A large part of this is our relaxed and unscripted approach. Other than the group shots and couple time, we capture moments as they happen, rather than asking you to stop and ‘do it again’. We believe in letting our couples enjoy their day without pressure, focusing on what’s right for them. We always say, it’s a wedding and NOT a photoshoot. We simply find reality much more interesting than anything we can make up.
